Written by Administrator. Posted in Rugby

The league and the union are the two types of rugby widely played. The rules and regulations of the both these types of rugby are different. The leagues as well as the union have their own games and their own championships. The Rugby union football is most commonly referred to as ‘rugby’.

Rugby is played between two teams of either around 13-15 players an exception is done of seven players where seven players are accepted for a form of a game known as ‘rugby sevens’. A single game of rugby lasts for around eighty minutes, which involves a break of ten minutes. The game of rugby is somewhat similar to the American Football than soccer as the players in a game of rugby are allowed to kick the ball any time and not just for goal kicks or penalty.

The sport is a full contact sport and doesn’t involve any kind of head protection or padded uniforms. This makes the players more vulnerable to the injuries and accidents than the other sports. However, gum shields are mandatory to prevent damage to teeth and tongue.

The game is mostly played in rugby’s official uniform, made up of shorts and collared jerseys.
