Golf is an old sport. There is a big question mark as when and where did the game of golf originated as the Dutch, Scottish and Chinese take pride in discovering the game. However, it is widely said that the game of golf first originated in Scotland in the 1100s.

The game of golf was first mentioned in the 15th century laws where playing the game of gowf was prohibited. However, the game of putting a small ball in a hole in the ground was first played in the 17th century in Netherlands.

The word golf comes from the Dutch kolf meaning stick, bat or the club. A major change in the game came in the 19th century when there were major changes in the equipment wherein there were better mowers designed exclusively for greens, the better golf ball and the use of the metal shaft, which began in the 1930s and the use of metal and shafts and graphite composite metals in the late 1980s.

Today, golf has become of the most favorite games played all around the world. Several people enjoy this game and love to watch as well as play the game.
